“Learning to train my brain was a concept I had never considered. Who knew meditation could do that? Mindfulness has been a gift in my life! When a distant thought enters, I now know what to do with it. This class has made me eager to learn even more!”

-Sue Kern Wilkins (Infrastructure, Properties and Planning)

“I was intrigued when I read the WorkJoy description, and felt it was a great opportunity for me to learn some of these tools and to put them to work. WorkJoy did all of that and more, giving me simple ideas that I can use every day at work to ground myself, remind myself to breathe, be a better listener, be kind to myself, and so much more. I feel that each and every one of us took some useful information away from the day and I recommend the program to anyone who could use a little more WorkJoy!”

-Julie Wright (Cornell Engineering)

“It’s been pretty life changing. During the first call someone said something that really stuck with me. She implied that doing this is really about self-respect – do I respect myself enough to care for myself? Through this program, I’m happy to confidently say yes. I’m glad you’ll be bringing it to more here at Cornell. Thank you!

-Jennifer Soprano (Employer Relations/Recruiting Coordinator)

“New habits are hard to form, at least the good ones! WorkJoy is a path that begins with a one-day workshop followed by a three-month supported journey to find equanimity. The outcomes can be applied not only to your work environment but to every interaction you have as you go about your day. Many skills are shared and demonstrated including: meditation, empathy, mindfulness, gratitude, and wolf feeding (you’ll have to take the class for further explanation of that one.) Listening to myself, through quieting my mind, as well as listening better to others with a clarity of purpose and support are my enduring takeaways. I heartily recommend signing up to discover what part of being present resonates for you.”

I had an interview that I was super hyped and anxious for.  I chose to leave work an hour early, take my time and enjoy the beautiful day as I walked to the location.  I included two pictures of my two mindful places.  One is BB lake.  Just closing my eyes and listening to the sounds….then taking in the beauty of the water and the mist …was so calming.  I then, 30 minutes early to my interview sat to go over my notes.  I did this for a few moments then looked up to see the view, still hearing the rage of the lake.  My portfolio was closed as I sat for 20 minutes just being.  I cannot express how very calm I was walking into that interview and how incredible I felt after.   I retraced my steps back…just to stand in the mist that was coming over the walking bridge….my reward…

THANK YOU!!! And yes I am yelling that….with all the full hearted….energy I can send.
